Our Senior Advisory Board consists of high-level media, technology,
law and finance executives that provide strategic guidance to our
Executive Committee.
Michael Gerrity is Founder and Chairman of MultiChannel
Ventures LLC (“MCV”), which is a developer, owner and
operator of a broad range of video programming, broadband distribution,
interactive, subscription, paid search, advertising and transaction
based Internet businesses.
Prior to forming MCV, Mr. Gerrity was the founder and CEO of Gerrity
Equity Advisors, a firm that has handled over $250 million dollars
in corporate real estate transactions since its inception in 1989.
Mr. Gerrity began his commercial real estate career in 1984 with
Cushman & Wakefield.
In addition, Mr. Gerrity is the creator and executive producer of
the Money & Media Summit™ investor conference held annually
at the Hard Rock Live at Universal Studios Florida. In addition,
Mr. Gerrity has spoken at a number of industry conferences and been
featured in numerous publications. In 1999 he was awarded the prestigious
"40 under 40" Entrepreneur Achievement Award of Central
Florida by the Orlando Business Journal.
Mr. Gerrity also serves on several boards, including the Central
Florida Technology Partnership's Digital Media Advisory Board, the
City of Orlando Technology Board, the Florida Economic Development
Commission Film & Television Board and Digital Media Alliance
Florida (“DMAF”) which he is a founding board member.
Julia Johnson serves as the Chairperson of the Video Access Alliance. Mrs. Johnson is a nationally recognized expert in regulatory public policy matters. Johnson's vast experience includes:
Governor Lawton Chiles appointed Mrs. Johnson to the Florida Public Service Commission for two consecutive terms from 1992-1999 and she served as Chairman from 1997-1999. She also served as the State Chair of the Federal/State Joint Board on Universal Service which provided regulatory policy recommendations to the Federal Communications Commission on the deployment of telecommunications and universal service support mechanisms bringing internet access to schools and libraries across the nation.
In 1999, Governor Jeb Bush appointed Mrs. Johnson as the Chairperson of Florida's Internet Taskforce. In that capacity she served as key advisor to Governor Bush and the Florida Legislature on issues related to free-market development and beneficial use of advanced communications networks and information technologies.
In 1999-2001, Mrs. Johnson served as national spokesperson for NETCOMPETE NOW, an advocacy group that successfully focused on preventing government regulation of the deployment of broadband in numerous state and local jurisdictions.
In 2003, Mrs. Johnson was appointed by FCC Chairman Michael Powell as the Chair of the Federal Communications Commission Federal Advisory Committee on Diversity for communication in the Digital Age. The Diversity Committee makes reports and recommendations concerning the need for guidelines, incentives, regulations or other policy approaches to promote diversity and participation in the communications sector. Under her leadership, the Committee held its first national diversity forum which attracted the participation of minority entrepreneurs and companies from across the county.
Mrs. Johnson holds a B.S. degree in Business Management and Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Florida College of Law.
Darrell Kelley is President and Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Florida (EFI) The State of Florida’s public-private partnership responsible for leading Florida’s statewide economic development efforts.
Since joining EFI in August 2002, Mr. Kelley has strengthened EFI’s
partnership with Florida’s business community, resulting in
a 33 percent increase in private-sector investment. He also has
co-chaired the development of “The Roadmap to Florida’s
Future,” a statewide strategic plan for further diversifying
Florida’s economy, at the request of Governor Bush.
During a 38-year career in the telecommunications industry, Mr.
Kelley served as President of three separate Sprint companies in
Ohio, Texas and Florida. He also established a national reputation
as an economic development thought leader during terms as an EFI
board member and as President of the Metro Orlando Economic Development
Commission, where he launched a $17.4 million campaign to promote
Metro Orlando as a high-tech business center. Mr. Kelley also previously
served as President, Chief Operating Officer and board member for
MILCOM Technologies, an Orlando-based business incubator specializing
in the commercialization of defense-related technologies.
He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Case
Western Reserve University in 1981.
Dr. Michael Baron (Ph.D., Columbia University)
is President and CEO of Real Digital Media, LLC, providing products
and digital media services for entertainment, promotion, and advertising
in public spaces. Founded in 2002 and located in Maitland, Florida,
RDM designs, manufactures and markets multimedia players for deployment
in wired or wireless networks in retail and entertainment environments.
Baron was the founder and president of Teranex, a developer and manufacturer of high performance video computing platforms and software applications for the digital media, broadcast, post-production and film industries. He raised $40 million in venture capital including an investment from AOL/Time Warner and grew the company to more than 40 employees and revenue of several million dollars.
Dr. Baron gained experience in video display, professional video production, multimedia, video streaming and allied industries during a 15-year career at Sony Electronics. As senior vice president, he had P&L responsibility for $500 million and seven business units. The success of the medical division - growing from $1 million to over $100 million in four years with the highest profit ratio in the company - garnered him the President's Award from Sony's top management in Japan.
Ed Parker is a business consultant and licensed
real estate sales associate with NAI Realvest Partners, Inc. based
in Maitland, Fl. NAI Realvest is the largest locally headquartered
commercial real estate services firm in Central Florida.
From 1988-98, Mr. Parker was President and COO of Blackstar, LLC,
a Washington D.C. based television broadcasting company which owned
five television stations affiliated with Fox and Home Shopping Network.
Blackstar operated under his direction for ten years before he negotiated
the sale of the stations to Bud Paxson and Barry Diller's USA Network.
The sale provided a net compounded annual return of 80% to Blackstar's
original investors.
Mr. Parker has also held the title of Chief Financial Officer or
Controller for a number of media companies and developed a reputation
for financial reporting integrity everywhere he served. He was a
Florida CPA and Senior Auditor with the international accounting
firm Ernst and Young in its Miami office.
George Mezo recently retired as senior director
at Oracle Corporation after a 30-year career as an information technology
executive. Using his experience in strategic planning, general management
and building corporate infrastructures and business processes, he
established Oracle's global support center in Orlando, Florida.
Starting with three employees, Mr. Mezo guided the center's growth
to a technology powerhouse with more than a thousand professionals
and $600M P/L.
Currently, Mr. Mezo advises technology-based startup companies and
is an executive volunteer at the University of Central Florida.
He serves on the UCF Foundation Board of Trustees, chairing the
Strategic Planning Committee and serving on a technical committee
that evaluates and awards research projects supported by the State
of Florida through the Florida High Tech Corridor Council.
Mr. Mezo is also chair of the Orange County Public Schools Technology
Advisory Group - a body of IT executives dedicated to providing
expert guidance in using and spending taxpayer dollars on technology.
Robert Long is an independent consultant and investor
in technology enterprises. He retired from Eastman Kodak Company
as Senior Vice President, Corporate Planning, and has advised, served
on the boards of, and invested in several technology companies over
the last few years. He is serving a twelve-year term as a Sun Microsystems,
Inc. Board Member and is also a trustee and Executive Committee
Member of the Florida Institute of Technology.
Thomas Huber has 25 years of experience as a Senior
Executive working with a number of technology-based companies. Mr.
Huber received his MBA from Northern Illinois University, and his
BA from Loras College.
Currently, Mr. Huber is the President and Chief Executive Officer
for SunGard Collegis Inc., a diversified services provider to the
higher education market. SunGard Collegis provides services to help
over 80 colleges and universities to establish and support online
learning programs, create and distribute content, and manage IT
infrastructure investments.
SunGard Collegis has continued to accelerate its growth by expanding
its client base, staff, and revenue by 25% plus per annum since
Mr. Huber’s arrival in late 2000. SunGard Collegis has approximately
900 employees and over $100M in revenues.
Prior to joining SunGard Collegis, Mr. Huber was the President of
Fiserv, Inc., CBS (Comprehensive Banking System) Division. Fiserv
CBS Worldwide is a leading provider of eCommerce banking solutions
and offers integrated systems that deliver financial products and
services through emerging delivery channel technologies. The CBS
Business Unit comprised over 1,250 employees with offices in six
countries and 400 financial institutions in 50 countries. During
his multiple-year tenure as President of the division, the operation
tripled in revenues and profits. Fiserv bought the CBS Division
of Citicorp in 1991.
As the Chief Financial Officer for Newtrend, Inc., CBS Division,
Mr. Huber built the financial management structure and systems for
this start-up banking software and services provider.
Mr. Huber was also the Director of Market Development for Paramount
Communications-DELTAK, Inc. He was responsible for business development
and new market entry strategy for the world’s leading developer
of multimedia training materials.
Mr. Huber also has experience working for Ernst & Young prior
to Paramount Communications.
Judson French, Jr., is founder and CEO, Strategic
Services International Inc., a convergent media business and technology
strategy consultancy in Winter Park, Florida. He served as the Executive
Director and Conference Chairman for MultiChannel Ventures' Money
& Media Show™ 2004, and is an Advisory Board member for
other MCV ventures. He is also Managing Director of the Interactive
Entertainment Institute LLC, which directs initiatives in the beneficial
use of videogame technologies.
Mr. French was Corporate Director, Digital Television, at Harris
Corporation where he led the rollout of their digital television
product line. He linked Harris with Philips Electronics, PBS, and
60 other companies to create the award-winning Harris/PBS DTV Express™,
a 49-city, 15-month nationwide educational road tour reaching 22,000
participants and training 2400 industry executives. While at Harris,
he received President's Council and Impact awards.
Mr. French was a senior business and product development executive
and strategist in digital media, information technologies, commercial
and defense electronics at companies including Westinghouse and
Northrop Grumman. He began his media technology career in broadcasting
as Chief Engineer, later GM, of WJHU-AM/FM in Baltimore, MD, where
he led the station's conversion to FM broadcasting.
Mr. French also founded and is President of Digital Media Alliance
Florida, the state's digital media industry association, after serving
on Governor Jeb Bush's IT Florida Task Force and 21st Century Digital
TV and Education Task Force, the state's Digital Media Education
Coordination Group, and the Central Florida Technology Partnership's
Digital Media Advisory Board. Other Board service has included the
Advanced Television Forum, Orlando Mayor Glenda Hood's High Technology
Advisory Board, and the Johns Hopkins University's Engineering Alumni
Association Board.
Dan Horn is Managing Partner of Noh Limits Consulting,
a technology and operations oriented business-consulting organization
in Atlanta, GA, specializing in growing small businesses and developing
international influence through networking. He worked more than
22 years for some of the leading professional services and technology-oriented
firms in the US and abroad.
Mr. Horn has been the lead developer, strategist, visionary and
enterprise architect for industries ranging from early computer
entertainment to the most recent events in the Internet and telecommunications
arenas. He was a Partner and CTO of USWeb/marchFirst Southeast.
Mr. Horn has also held positions as Director of Strategic Services
for Nextel Communications, Senior Vice President of Technology and
Chief Technology Officer for iXL, Inc., and Director of Advanced
Technologies for CNN, CNN Headline News, and Turner Broadcasting.
